Tech Giants Announce Frontier Model Forum Director And $10M AI Safety Fund

Anthropic, Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI have formed the Frontier Model Forum, with Chris Meserole, ex-Brookings Institution, as its Executive Director. The Forum's mission is to ensure the responsible development and use of AI models. A key initiative is the $10M AI Safety Fund, backed by philanthropic partners, aimed at advancing AI safety research and supporting independent investigations. The Forum plans to invite proposals soon, standardize red teaming best practices for AI safety, and implement a responsible disclosure process for frontier AI labs. It also aims to broaden discussions on AI governance and form an advisory board for strategic guidance.
