Amazon Dedicates Team To Train Ambitious AI Model Codenamed 'Olympus'

Amazon is reportedly developing 'Olympus,' a large language model (LLM) with 2 trillion parameters, double the count of OpenAI's GPT-4 model. This ambitious project aims to compete with top AI models from industry leaders like OpenAI and Alphabet. Rohit Prasad, former head of Alexa and current head scientist of artificial general intelligence (AGI) at Amazon, is leading the team. The initiative brings together researchers from the Alexa AI and Amazon science teams. Amazon has previously trained smaller models, such as Titan, and partnered with AI startups like Anthropic and AI21 Labs.
