Microsoft Announces Copilot, YouTube Gets AI Tools, Anthropic's Plan Against Catastrophic AI Risks

• Microsoft Unveils AI Copilot For Windows 11, Launching September 26th. On Thursday, Microsoft unveiled Copilot, its long-awaited 'everyday AI companion' for Windows 11. Integrated into Windows, Edge, Outlook, and Bing, Copilot can be accessed as an app or via right-click. The update is expected to be Microsoft’s most ambitious to date, also bringing over 150 new AI features to apps such as Paint, Photos, Clipchamp, and more.

• YouTube Introduces Four New AI tools At "Made On YouTube" Event. AI Insights provides creators with new content suggestions based on their subscribers preferences, Dream Screen for YouTube Shorts allows the creation of custom backgrounds through prompts, Assistive Search in Creator Music offers soundtrack recommendations, and Aloud enables video language translations.

• Anthropic’s New Policy Takes Aim At ‘Catastrophic’ AI Risks. Anthropic, creators of the Claude chatbot, introduced the Responsible Scaling Policy to mitigate "catastrophic" AI threats. Prioritizing safety, the policy mandates board oversight for revisions, aiming to establish a benchmark for transparent and ethical AI development.
