OpenAI Is Exploring Making Its Own AI Chips. A report this morning suggests that OpenAI is exploring the development of its own AI chips. They've even been assessing potential acquisition targets. Currently dependent on Nvidia's GPUs and a collaboration with Microsoft, OpenAI has been exploring alternatives since the previous year to address the AI chip shortage.

US Warns EU’s Landmark AI Policy Will Only Benefit Big Tech. The US alerted the EU that its proposed AI regulations could inadvertently benefit Big Tech, potentially stifling innovation from smaller enterprises due to compliance costs. The US believes these proposed rules could deter AI research and redirect investments. They've criticized the EU Parliament's AI Act for its vague terms and its focus on AI development over usage risks.

Snap’s AI Chatbot Draws Scrutiny In UK Over Kids Privacy Concerns. Snap has been issued a preliminary enforcement notice by the UK's Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) regarding its AI chatbot, "My AI". The ICO's concerns revolve around Snap's potential oversight in evaluating privacy risks, especially for children. Despite Snap's claims of robust moderation for "My AI", which uses OpenAI's ChatGPT, there have been reports of inappropriate bot interactions.
